So many thanks to all who came out for this year's Red Devil Swim, whether you got in the water or cheered from shore. As always, the event had great community spirit.
We had close to 150 swimmers, which may just be a record! Conditions were challenging, but just about all who got in the water finished.

Our Annual Red Devil Swim is a fun swim offered in 3 distances - 1 mile, 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile - that honors the efforts of our lifeguards and raises funds to support EHVOR’s mission to make expedient and safe water rescues year-round in all East End waters.
EHVOR's certified ocean lifeguards will protect all swimmers at this event.
Races start at 5:30pm.
Online registration is open. Day of registration will be open from 4pm to 5pm.
$50 per person through July 31
$55 per person from August 1 to September 1
$60 per person day of registration

What the heck is a Red Devil? The red “Speedo-type” bathing suit often associated with male lifeguards and the culture of lifeguarding has long been nicknamed the “Red Devil.” While not all rescue swimmers on East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue (EHVOR) wear the “Red Devil,” we are all certified ocean lifeguard, and we all embrace the lifeguarding culture and responsibility that comes with being a lifeguard. As Big John Ryan likes to say: “We are lifeguards for life!” |
